A Little About Me
I pride myself in my photography. I love to create images that are very unique and artistic and a little different. I am constantly on the lookout for different angles, lighting, locations, and anything out of the ordinary to make images stand out. People tell me I am a perfectionist and get very excited when I see the ‘perfect’ picture.
My style is very candid, modern, and fun, mixed with artistic creativity.
My interest in photography began over 30 years ago when I got my first camera in the 80’s, a Canon AE-1. At that time, my father asked me to ‘document’ their travels. And I fell in love. Along the way, I’ve won numerous awards and recognitions. I’ve studied under such photographers as Bryan F Peterson, Tony Sweet, Jim Zuckerman, and Brenda Tharp to name a few.
Why wedding photography? Well, in 2003, someone asked me to photograph their wedding. I was heavily into documentary and fine art photography, but I said yes. And the passion for weddings began. I loved it!! People who know me well, would tell you that I am a hopeless romantic who gets caught up in all the little things, romance, and love of the day. I love all the mushy stuff *S*. So being a hopeless romantic, everything fell into place. I got to ‘document’ all the happiness, joy, love, and craziness of the day, from the little things (rings, flowers, shoes, dress, makeup, etc), the look on the groom’s face when he sees his bride walking down the isle, the first kiss as husband and wife, a tear in the bride’s eyes as she gazes into her groom’s face, the love between them as we go to different places for their portraits, to all the fun and craziness we cook up. Love and photography, the two just fit together like a marriage. There’s nothing better than photographing two people who are in love and capturing their ‘love story’. I can’t think of anything else I would rather do. To me, it’s the best job in the world.
I want your wedding photos to tell a story of the most important day of your life and turn them into timeless images that will bring a smile to your face for years to come.
I look forward to the privilege of capturing the beginning of your new life together. If you have any questions or comments, send me an email. I would love to hear from you!
After the wedding or portrait session, I will work for many, many hours (most times 40 to 60 hours for weddings) on the computer developing the photos (digital darkroom). I spend the time editing to just the right colours, lighting, contrast, and correcting any basic touch ups such as blemishes, etc which is included in your package.
Awards and Recognition (page coming soon)
I have had some of my photos selected as “Finalists” as well as selected for “Winner”, second place in entries over 20,000. I was also voted top photographer in Bryan F Peterson’s “Art Of Composition” class, Jim Zuckerman’s “Mastering Light” class, along with others.
I prefer to concentrate on images that show the real emotions of the day through my candid and informal style. The formal photos do call for some “posing”, however, I like to keep it light and fun as it will have a more relaxed and “in the moment” feel to them. My specialty is capturing shots that are more artistic and creative. Being an artist for over 20 years in the Fine Arts, gives me that creative edge. Photography is a passion and I love what I do. I hope this shows through the small samples of my work. Nothing gives me more pleasure and satisfaction at the end of the day, knowing that I have provided great images that you will cherish for generations to come.
Timeless images, artistic flair, relaxed atmosphere, real emotions…..that is my goal.
I look forward to the privilege of photographing your special day.
